Actions Have Consequences

Actions Have Consequences...

Unfortunately, we often hear stories where employees do something to save a life or protect someone, and they get fired for doing the right thing. I need to share a story that happened today with one of my customers. I am going to leave some details out for privacy reasons.

An employee from A-1 Sewer and Septic was working in the basement of a house when he heard someone upstairs yelling for help. He ran upstairs to find a person unconscious and unresponsive.

He gave the person CPR and resuscitated them. The First Responders said the person would not have made it if he hadn’t given them CPR. ( WOW!)

After this happened, the service tech called the office and asked if he could take a break before his next service call. The customer service manager said,

“Of course not, go home for the rest of the day. We can discuss this later.”

My customer service manager not only sent him home for the rest of the day, but they also sent him home with pay and appreciation for doing the right thing. He wasn’t reprimanded, he was praised for taking action!

It is an incredible feeling to work with companies whose actions match their words. Not only did the service tech do the right thing at the right time, but the customer service manager also didn’t need to check to see if she could let him take time off, she took action that matched the company’s values.

Words cannot express the pride and joy I am experiencing just knowing I work with a company that truly values its employees.
